Carmacks to Stewart Transmission Line Phase I and II

Major Milestone

This project was logistically challenging due to the geographical remoteness of the work. In addition, twenty-two structures associated with the line were in an environmentally sensitive area that required excavation to be done by hand.

Highlights

Phase I

Valard constructed 100 km of 138 kV Transmission Line and 30 km of 25 kV Distribution Line to the Minto Mine. Involving:

  • a 450 m crossing over the Yukon River, and
  • a 650 m crossing of Tatchun Creek

Phase II

Valard constructed an additional 67 km of 138 kV Transmission Line through permafrost.
